The subtitle, “A Nick Holleran Book” pulled me in. What is it about this Nick guy that makes him deserve a spot on the cover? The city lights in amongst the dark rainy-looking background, with a man walking in the opposite direction was an intriguing view for the cover. It piqued my curiosity to say the least.
I certainly found the answer to that question once I started to read it. I was offered an ARC and when I accepted it, I had planned on writing this review then, however, when the opportunity arose to purchase a hard copy that included the authors signature, I had to wait until this book was physically in my hands.
The world that David has built around Nick is amazing to me. The whole concept actually provides a whole new outlook on life and death.
Nick is a well developed character, I have enjoyed getting to know him. The Aranoks were fun to read about, even if deadly creatures. Maeve and Harry have a very loving relationship which made me smile, reminding me of my husband and I when he was alive. As for Wheeler, well, you will just have to read the book and develop your own opinion on him.
I have read MANY things written by this author and his storytelling makes me feel as if I am right there in the midst of everything going on.
Now, let's all stay away from “vomit flavoured lollipops” and stick to our guns as best we can.
I highly recommend this book, as well as anything else that you can get your hands on that has been written by David.
I absolutely give this book a 5/5 Stars. Here is the link for easy access
